Oil timing belt on and new one to be installed. A Gates
Racing timing belt, feels a little stiffer and looks a lot tougher than
a standard one.
So loosen tensioner
and remove belt
New one has three marks already on it for each timing
mark on the sprockets (crank and cam x2)
First put belt on crank sprocket aligned with mark, then
on intake cam sprocket, then exhaust sprocket and get on second
tensioner
Bit loose, so spin crank twice, rock tensioner back and
forth 3 times, then release tensioner and tighten nut. Allow the
tensioner to tighten the cam belt on it's own.
That's it all installed (now put front of engine back
together... oil slinger and bottom timing cover
Crank pulley
Top timing cover
Crank angle sensor remembering to line up the markings
so it is in exactly the same place.
Check on the coil packs...all looks good.
Now I have to ID all the plugs on these looms - tricky
thing is they are a custom cut down loom so don't match the FSM. ID'ed
all the obvious EFI functions (injectors, CAS, TPS etc...)
This seem to be a mix of all 3 engine bay/engine looms -
having some trouble with this one too.
So I started sticking multimeters in all the plugs
looking for continuity (using my special paperclip tool in pic 3),
managed to ID all but a few plugs.
I made a pretty pic with the mysterious plugs...hope it
is readable - so I'll get back to working out these.
Next I had to save the knock sensor and oil pressure
plugs from the extra wiring loom (I worked out it is the engine bay loom
for the CA) - not part of the EFI harness.
